CHMOD Technical
CHMOD is a unix command that allows you to tell the server how much (or how little) access to allow to each file and folder.
The standard permissions are:
- read (r)
- write (w)
- execute (x)
Permissions can be set for the following users:
- user (u)
- group (g)
- world (o)
A three or four digit octal number may be used to represent the modes. For example CHMOD 777 gives read, write, execute permissions to all users. |

Class 2 NIC
Class 2 National Insurance Contributions are payable by the self-employed.
When you start a Business, you must inform HM Revenue and Customs within 3 months and either:
- Begin paying Class 2 NIC,
- Apply for a Small Earnings Exception if you think your earnings for the year will be below the Small Earnings threshold, or
- Apply for deferment of Class 2 contributions if you have high earnings from employment and the Class 1 contributions you are paying are close to the upper limit.

Distance Selling Regulations
Drawn up by the Government department - Office of Fair Trading (OFT). The regulations apply to any Business selling or providing a service to the public via the internet, over the phone etc eg at a distance from the purchaser.
The regulations provide protection for the purchaser. |
