Copying Bob's post from the Dropshipping forum, as it is relevant to Wholesale also.

Undertaking research is a vital part of making your business a success. From brainstorming initial ideas (Maggi and I had two brainstorming meetings of note. The first whilst approx 70 miles apart - I was sitting in a blizzard at the time and well happy  ) to setting in place a plan and following through.

You have decided that dropshipping or holding stock is for you but now you need to find suppliers (I would not suggest you have just one supplier available in case of supply problems). This thread should give you some ideas of where to find them.

Please feel free to add your methods of research.

Here are a few to get you started. Please let us all know what you think:

You can also try Salehoo - this is a good one because it's quite interactive - users feed back to each other about their buying experienc with diffferent suppliers.

http://www.salehoo.com

There's also:

https://www.worldwidebrands.com/wwb/ordernow_rd.asp
http://www.ec21.com - careful of this one - LOTS of scammers!

Maybe you can look at xxxx.com, it is the best electronics wholesler in China.

[edit] Sheesh, when will you people get the message? Unlike most forums of this type, we actually allow free advertising by suppliers, provided they stick to the forum rules. You didn't... you are now banned.

Content removed - please refrain from blatant self-promotion outside the suppliers' advertising area.

The information is a couple of years ago, would like you to update the "Sources of suppliers" portals?

Google will always be your friend, as will this (and many other forums).

I would suggest that when you look for a supplier (or many suppliers) you get as much information as you can on all of them, and then decide the route you want to take.

Just because company X says they are better then company Y, you still need to get test purchases from both, and then decide which is better for you?

Also remember that when people are happy with a supplier - they wont tell you about it, as they dont want to loose business, but when they are unhappy they will tell you! - or maybe they "might" tell you they are unhappy with a supplier (that is good) to put you off..... - not good - but it happends.

While not yet an amazing method of finding stock suppliers, it worth looking into a online reference called "TinEye" in basic terms it allows you a serch (like google) but for pictures....... :) - this then allows you to find new suppliers, as lots of people use the same image(s).

Remember to always have your "trade" head on, you go into your local town, pop into a shop, and see a lot of boxes as they have just had a delivery, and on the outside of the box is the company that sent the good(s) - remember the name, look the company up, you might not want that information today, but next year it might be good to have it.

Good luck
